Why Offer Gender-Based & Sexual Violence Training to Field Workers?
- Supporting teams in male-dominated industries: in many field roles, men make up the majority of the workforce. Raising awareness about inappropriate behaviours helps ensure all employees are treated with dignity regardless of gender.
- Strengthen safety on the ground: designed with field contexts in mind, our training helps workers recognise and prevent unacceptable conduct, fostering a work environment where everyone feels secure.
- Stay legally compliant: our training was designed to help your organisation stay compliant with legal regulations on gender-based and sexual violence prevention.
- Promote a strong workplace culture: investing in prevention sends a clear message: the safety and well-being of your employees is a priority.
- Boost your reputation and attract top talent: demonstrating your commitment to equality and respect doesn’t just benefit internal culture, it also appeals to skilled professionals who care about values in the workplace.
Training against gender-based and sexual violence is the foundation for a safer, more inclusive work culture.
Key Learning Objectives – Gender-Based & Sexual Violence Training
Our training focuses on five essential learning outcomes:
- Distinguishing sexism, harassment, and sexual assault: participants learn to recognise the difference between inappropriate comments, harassment, and sexual assault. This clarity helps them respond appropriately in a range of real-world situations.
- Knowing where to turn for support: knowing who to speak to is the first step in addressing an incident. We walk participants through your company’s internal support channels, whether for reporting, advice, or emotional support.
- Responding effectively: prevention goes beyond identification. We equip teams with clear, practical strategies to respond to incidents and support colleagues confidently and constructively.
- Understanding legal responsibility: the training covers both individual and organisational legal obligations. Participants gain a solid understanding of the consequences of gender-based and sexual violence.
- Supporting colleagues with empathy : we teach how to support a colleague who has experienced inappropriate behaviour through empathy, discretion, and proper guidance.
A Three-Phase Learning Experience
Phase 1: Immersion Module
After a short introduction, the session begins with an immersive VR experience. Learners step into the shoes of Myriam, a worker who both witnesses and experiences acts of gender-based and sexual violence. This scenario-based module, grounded in real testimonies, fosters empathy by helping learners feel the emotional and psychological weight of such violence. By building emotional engagement, the experience encourages more thoughtful, compassionate reactions in real-life situations. Participants come away with a deeper awareness of the impact of these acts and a stronger understanding of why prevention matters.
Phase 2: Educational Module
Next, participants are guided through a step-by-step breakdown of what they experienced in the immersion. They learn to recognise the many forms gender-based and sexual violence can take, understand the legal and organisational implications, and identify the right channels for support. They also gain practical tools to respond effectively and support affected colleagues. This module includes anonymous quizzes to assess what participants knew before and after the session. These insights help measure the programme’s effectiveness and provide a valuable barometer of your organisation’s current workplace culture.
Phase 3: Debrief & Group Discussion
Finally, learners are invited to join a facilitated group discussion, if they wish. This safe and supportive space allows learners to share thoughts and feelings, ask questions, and reflect on the training. It’s a key moment to reinforce learning, explore ways to take action, and tailor strategies to your company’s specific context.
What Our Field-Based Gender-Based and Sexual Violence Training Brings to the Table
Multi-Sensory Immersion
Grounded in real-life testimonies, our VR experiences place learners at the heart of realistic, scenario-based situations, helping them see the world through someone else’s eyes. This immersive format creates strong emotional engagement, which boosts empathy and leads to longer-lasting learning. By bringing emotion into the learning process, VR makes training more impactful and memorable.
Flexibility and Time-Saving
While traditional programmes can take hours, our sessions last just 15 minutes, delivering the same impact in a fraction of the time and without disrupting productivity. VR also requires far less setup and fewer resources than traditional methods. Where a conventional roleplay-based session might demand rented space, equipment, and staff time, our headset-based approach delivers equivalent results at a fraction of the cost.
Measurable Positive Impact
Every module we deliver is evaluated for real-world impact. In 2023 alone, 4,494 employees completed our Field-Based Gender-Based and Sexual Violence Training:
- Before the experience, only 22.8% understood the legal consequences of gender-based and sexual violence. After the experience, 86.0% understood the legal repercussions.
- Before the experience, only 56.1% could distinguish between sexism and sexual harassment. After the experience, 93.3% could clearly distinguish between sexism and sexual harassment.
- Before the experience, only 24.9% knew who to turn to for support. After the experience, 80.5% knew where to find help.
These results speak for themselves: with the right tools, your teams can take meaningful action and build a workplace where safety and respect are the norm.
