Why Offer Workplace Racism Training?
- Preventing discrimination and microaggressions: racism can take many forms, whether direct, indirect, or systemic. Training your teams to recognise and prevent these behaviours fosters respectful, healthy interactions across your organisation.
- Strengthening team climate and well-being: an inclusive work environment boosts employee satisfaction, reduces tensions, and builds stronger team cohesion. Companies that actively address racism create more engaged, committed teams.
- Staying compliant with legal requirements: employers are legally obligated to prevent workplace discrimination. Training helps you meet those obligations while improving team performance and protecting your organisation from legal risk.
- Enhance your employer brand: offering workplace racism training demonstrates your commitment to employee well-being. It also strengthens your appeal to both mission-aligned professionals and external partners who value inclusion.
Workplace racism training delivers key measurable benefits: strengthening performance, employee well-being, and your company’s public image.
Learning Objectives of Our Workplace Racism Training
Our training focuses on five essential learning outcomes:
- Identifying the different forms of racism: participants learn to recognise and distinguish direct, indirect, and systemic racism, as well as microaggressions, so they can better prevent and respond to them in real time.
- Challenging racist stereotypes and bias: recognising personal bias is the first step toward inclusion. This module helps participants deconstruct harmful stereotypes and adopt more inclusive, thoughtful professional behaviour.
- Understanding the real-world impact of racism: through immersive VR scenarios, participants experience the psychological and professional consequences of workplace racism, building both empathy and insight.
- Responding effectively to discrimination: whether as targets or witnesses, participants gain practical tools and strategies to identify, address, and report racist behaviours appropriately.
- Knowing the legal framework and responsibilities: teams are introduced to the legal obligations related to workplace racism, including applicable sanctions and the responsibilities of both employers and employees.
A Three-Phase Learning Experiment
Phase 1: Immersion Module
Through virtual reality, participants step into the shoes of Christian, an employee facing different forms of racial discrimination in his daily work life. They experience the impact of microaggressions, unconscious bias, and discrimination, building a deeper understanding of why tackling racism in the workplace is essential.
Phase 2: Educational Module
Next, learners are guided through a step-by-step analysis of the immersive experience. Each scenario is unpacked to help participants identify racist behaviours and adopt appropriate responses. Anonymous pre- and post-training quizzes measure individual progress and offer valuable insight into your organisation’s current diversity climate.
Phase 3: Debrief & Group Discussion
To close the session, learners are invited to join a facilitated group discussion, if they wish to. This open space encourages participants to ask questions, reflect on what they’ve experienced, and share their impressions. The discussion helps solidify key takeaways and define practical steps for preventing and addressing racism in the workplace.
What Our Workplace Racism Training Brings to the Table
Multi-Sensory Immersion
Immersive VR enables participants to engage emotionally with real-life scenarios, helping them fully grasp the impact of racial discrimination. By stepping into the shoes of someone facing racism at work, learners develop a more empathetic understanding of the challenges and threats it creates. Thanks to our blend of cognitive science and expert filmmaking, Reverto delivers impactful training that drives engagement, maximises retention, and leads to lasting behavioural change.
Flexibility and Time-Saving
We know that teams don’t always have time for long training formats. That’s why our sessions last just 15 minutes: so that they're easy to schedule, with minimal disruption to the workday. Unlike traditional methods, our VR solutions require little setup or resources, offering a practical, time-efficient, and cost-effective alternative.
Measurable Positive Impact
At Reverto, we evaluate the effectiveness of every training programme through rigorous, real-world testing across large participant groups, thus ensuring our solutions lead to lasting, measurable change. Although our Workplace Racism module is a recent addition and has not yet undergone full-scale impact analysis, we are committed to transparency and will share results as soon as they’re available. In the meantime, we work hand-in-hand with our clients to maximise impact, adapting each session to support a more respectful, inclusive, and equitable workplace culture.
